As a part of the Physical Rehabilitation Project, on September 28, 2020, an active rehabilitation and independent living camp was launched, which lasted for 5 days. It was attended by 16 wheelchair users living in different regions of Georgia.

The camp was led by experienced wheelchair instructors who equipped participants with simple, medium and hard practical skills of wheelchair movement and daily activities.

During 5 days, the participants were informed about the rules of self-care, self-handling of a wheelchair, information about personal hygiene, reproductive health and various other issues.

The participants were given lectures on the prevention and treatment of bed linen, caring for and repairing people with disabilities. The trainers provided information for disabled people about the philosophy of independent living, social and political aspects of disability. During the camp, sports games and competitions were organized for wheelchair users.

The 5-day active rehabilitation and independent living skills training camp was organized in frames of the Physical Rehabilitation Project in Georgia which is being implemented by Emory University (USA), Tbilisi State Medical University (TSMU) and Coalition for Independent Living with support from USAID Physical Rehabilitation.
