A meeting on disability was held in Gori

On 1 March, as part of the project "Advocacy for the implementation of disability law", a meeting was held in Gori with non-governmental organisations working on the issue of persons with disabilities and persons with disabilities.

 

Representatives of the non-governmental sector and persons with disabilities spoke about the needs in the region. The main focus was on the existing problems related to employment and the lack of information.

 

The Chairperson of the Coalition for Independent Living, Giorgi Dzneladze, spoke about the need for a strong regional network of organisations working on the issue of persons with disabilities.

 

The aim of the project is to support DPOs working in Georgia to effectively advocate for the equal treatment provisions of the Georgian Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and to support efforts against discriminatory practises.

 

The partners of the project are the organisation "Europe Foundation" and the "Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley".
