Meeting with international experts
On January 26, the "Coalition for Independent Living" held a meeting with international experts on the issues of people with disabilities.
The meeting took place in a discussion mode, and its purpose was to take into account the advice and opinions of international experts for the mobilization and strengthening of people with disabilities.
Leading US and European disability rights experts Judy Heuman, Dennis Figueroa, Johnny Vodachi, Adolph Ratska, Jamie Boling, and Amber Smoak shared their experiences on community mobilization and strengthening the disability movement with their Georgian colleagues. The conversation touched on the importance of activating the members of the community, their involvement in public life, and raising their motivation to be actively involved in the process of receiving the existing decisions about them.
The meeting was held within the framework of the project "Advocacy for the Implementation of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities", whose partners are "Europe Foundation" and "Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley".
