New Service for Wheelchair-Users in Georgia
Center of Child Neurology and Neurorehabilitation in Tbilisi hosted a presentation of postural support seating production and availability of services in Georgia on February 15, 2011.
Postural support seating service is the first of its kind in Georgia which ensures upright sitting and proper physical development of children in wheelchairs based on individual approaches. Jamie Noon, an international expert in designing and providing postural support seating equipment and services was visiting Georgia for effective introduction of this service and participated in the presentation along with the trained occupational therapists and the first beneficiaries to receive this service.
The audience was greeted by Kent Logsdon - Deputy US Ambassador, Moris Tsamalashvili - Deputy Minister of Labour, Healthcare and Social Affairs, Zaza Kakushadze – Director of CCNNR and Giorgi Dzneladze, Chairman of CIL.
The presentation took place in frames of the project Georgian Wheelchair Production Network being implemented by Coalition for Independent Living and Center of Child Neurology and Neurorehabilitation in partnership with World Institute on Disability and WhirlWind Wheelchair International with the financial support from USAID.
