On February 16–17, a seminar was held on the topic of "Legal Mechanisms for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
On February 16–17, disabled persons living in Tbilisi, Kvemo Kartli, and Samtskhe-Javakheti and representatives of organisations working on the subject of disabilities were given a seminar on the topic of "Legal mechanisms for the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities.".
The February 16 seminar was led by activist Nata Bukia and lawyer Davit Bibileishvili. The trainers, together with the participants in the meeting, discussed the definition of disability, disability assessment models, terms, services, etc.. Time was devoted to talking about civil activism and discussing its importance.
The February 17 seminar was dedicated to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The meeting was conducted by Davit Bibileishvili. In total, about 30 people attended the 2-day seminar.
The meeting was held within the framework of the project "Advocacy for the Implementation of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities." The partners of the project are the organisations "European Foundation" and "Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley.".
