On December 23, an event to enforce the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
On December 23, with the support of the organizations "Coalition for Independent Living” and "Changes for Equal Rights", a working meeting of the Unified Coordination Council of Measures for the Implementation of the Law of Georgia on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities was held.
Committee members developed recommendations in the following directions:
- What kinds of social services are needed by children with disabilities and adults with disabilities according to the stages of the life cycle;
- How social services should respond to the needs, interests, rights and independent living of people with all types of disabilities;
- What should be the coordination between different services based on the interests of the disabled child/disabled adult;
- What kind of new services are needed for children with disabilities/children with developmental disabilities and adults with disabilities to participate in public life and live independently.
About 25 members of the committee, representing organizations working on issues of disabilities in Tbilisi and regions, took part in the meeting. Representatives of regional organizations took part in the meeting through the online platform "Zoom".
The session was chaired by Maguli Shagashvili, a member of the Unified Coordination Council for the Implementation of the Law of Georgia on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
