A regional conference was held in Yerevan
On April 25–26, the regional conference "Towards a World without Barriers: Accelerating the Implementation of Inclusive Social Protection of Persons with Disabilities" was held in Yerevan, in which both Caucasus and world-level experts took part.
The meeting was held with the support of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Armenia, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The conference was a kind of regional platform to discuss the inclusive social protection of persons with disabilities, including social services, as a necessary component of the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The speech of the chairman of "Coalition for Independent Living," Giorgi Dzneladze, was devoted to the availability of aid, changes in the assessment system, and the mechanisms of the transition from the medical to the social system.
At the 2-day meeting, the invited experts discussed the development of effective service packages for persons with disabilities, the promotion of intersectoral coordination, and the advantages and risks of digitalization in the provision of services to persons with disabilities.
