Meetings were held in Lagodekhi and Kvareli
On December 19, representatives of the "Coalition for Independent Living" held meetings in Lagodekhi and Kvareli.
The mayor of the municipality, Jondo Mdivnishvili, representatives of the municipality, persons with disabilities and their parents attended the meeting held in Lagodekhi. The conversation touched on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the role of municipalities in the implementation of the Convention. The chairman of the coalition, Giorgi Dzneladze, together with the disabled persons and the mayor, discussed the services available in the municipality.
In Kvareli, a meeting was held with the mayor of the municipality, Givi Zautashvili. The representatives of the organization informed the Mayor about the project "Advocacy for the Implementation of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities". In addition, the conversation touched upon the determination of the person responsible for issues of disabled persons in the municipality. An agreement was reached on future cooperation on disability issues.
The meetings were held within the framework of the project - "Advocacy for the implementation of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities". The partners of the project are the organization "Europe Foundation" and "Independent Living Center of the Hudson Valley".
The project aims to strengthen organizations of persons with disabilities operating in Georgia so that they can effectively advocate for equal rights defined by the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and support efforts against discriminatory practices.
