Project Title: Supporting the Advancement of Independent Living in Georgia

Project Duration: 1 October, 2020 – 30 September, 2022

Donor: United States Agency for International Development (USAID)

Goal: Support independent living of persons with disabilities through evidence-based advocacy and sustainable service provision in accordance with CRPD Article 19.

Target regions: The municipalities of Kutaisi, Ozurgeti, Zugdidi, Batumi, Telavi, and Lagodekhi

Project Objectives and Activities:

Specific objectives:

Objective 1: Establish independent living centers for persons with disabilities in Georgia’s six municipalities 

Objective 2: Support the integration of essential community-based social services in the six municipalities 

Activities: 

1.1. Recruitment of leaders of independent living

1.2.  Training of leaders of independent living  

1.3.  Establishment of ILCs

1.4.  ILCs are operational

1.5.  Develop ILC Statute and Standards of Operations

1.6. National/Local Working Meetings and advocacy for municipal funding of the six ILCs 

2.1.    Needs Assessment of essential community-based social services for persons with disabilities

2.2.    Educate local municipalities on data-driven social programs for essential community services  

2.3.    Training in community-based social services for persons with disabilities 

2.4.  Standardize the community-based social services model
