On June 6-10, in Kobuleti, selected activists were trained within the framework of the project "Civil Society Action for Promoting Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities". The 4-day trainings were led by Ketevan Khomeriki, Law Specialist for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

During his two-day visit to Adjara, EU Ambassador Karl Hartzel visited the Coalition for Independent Living. The chairman of the organization, Georgy Dzneladze spoke about the project supporting disabled communities in overcoming the barriers caused by covid-19.

ONLINE PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECT CIVIL SOCIETY ACTION FOR PROMOTING HUMAN RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IN GEORGIA WAS HELD

On April 8, 2021, the online presentation of the project Civil Society Action for Promoting Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Georgia was held. The purpose of the event was to introduce the participants to the key activities and objectives of the project. The project is implemented by Changes for Equal Rights (CER) and Coalition for Independent Living (CIL) with the support of the European Union.

SUPPORTING DISABLED COMMUNITIES IN OVERCOMING THE BARRIERS CAUSED BY COVID-19

From January 11, Mobile Outreach Teams will resume operations in Adjara, Guria and Samegrelo regions. MOTs will offer accessible transportation service for PWDs to visit clinics for planned social and outpatient services (Ex.: dialysis treatment); access the basic products; get home visits of Mobility Assistant(MA), nurse, Occupational Therapist(OT) or Physical Therapist(PT) to help in mobility, pressure-sore care, increasing functionality and performing essential daily activities while staying in the lockdown for longer periods.

On May 9-10-11, in Likani, within the framework of the Civil Society Action for Promoting Human Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Georgia, the selected activists received training on disability issues.   The training was led by Toma Kakabadze, Chairman of the organization Changes for Equal Rights, Giorgi Dzneladze, Chairman of the Coalition for Independent Living and activist Nika Donjashvili.

On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Government adopted a technical regulation on "National Accessibility Standards", which is in full compliance with Article 9 of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
